Tips for Getting Back Into Shape!!

Great News!! I am running again. Finally. Not so great news: I am horribly out of shape. Even though I have been cross training and swimming, nothing gets you in the same shape that running every day does. So in this blog I am going to talk about some easy tips to get back into shape the right way.

My first tip, patience is key. If you are a runner like me the solution is not to go run 10 miles on your first day back running. You will be injured the next day, that is a promise. I started back by running for 15 minutes about 4 times and then I slowly started running farther and farther. It is very important to build a solid base.

My second tip is recovery, recovery, recovery. It is so so important to take care of yourself before and after runs. I am so bad at this because I only think to do these things once I am already injured (tragic I know). You should always heat or roll out your legs before all of your runs and do some kind of dynamic warm up. After runs you should roll out again and if it was a hard run or a workout then take an ice bath to help your legs recover.

My third and final tip is nutrition and sleep. They are very underrated in my opinion. I know this because I am horrible when it comes to my nutrition. I am a very very picky eater and I would usually go without eating instead of eating something that I didn't like. Since starting college I have gotten better and I have noticed how huge of a difference a couple vegetables a week can have on my body. I've always been good at the sleeping part so I always get my 7+ hours every night but if you don't then that is definitely something that could help you!!

Hope ya'll enjoyed my tips :)

  1. I could not agree with you more, Recovery is essential to getting into shape!!!! Many people tend to forget about this and it end up effecting the types of results they wish to see. I myself am trying to eat pretty clean, exercise regularly, and recover when necessary.
